On 23rd August 2012 the one thing I never thought would happen to me - Happened!

Yes I got engaged to My Man!
It was a Thursday evening, dinner had been cooked, eaten and plates washed up. The Man had gone to have his shower and I was sitting on the sofa, watching TV and probably perusing (nosing) on Facebook on my phone.
My Man came back into the living room and he looked a bit upset.

Having recently discovered he had shingles after we found a strange lump near his neck I was slightly concerned that perhaps he hadn't been entirely honest about said "lump" and was about to tell me something awful. So I sat up and prepared myself for the worst.

He then proceeded to get down on one knee and pull out a beautiful ring box and started talking about how he had wanted this moment to be special and everything.. but he had been carrying this ring around for a few weeks and he just wanted to do it...
And then he opened the beautiful box which contained an even more beautiful ring and he asked the most important and wonderful question I have ever been asked...."Will you marry me...?"

I was astounded... We had talked about it and had both agreed that we would like to get married in future but being as he had only been together for about 8 months it would be something we would seriously consider maybe after a year.
But of course my answer was a resounding "YES" and the ring was slipped on and I was ecstatic! Checking out the sparkly diamond on my finger whilst taking photos and sending them to everyone in my phones address book.

It was the most exciting thing that had ever happened to me and I was completely and utterly delighted. I even slept with my ring finger right up close to my face so that it was the first thing I saw when I woke up!

After a series of several long term relationships with the last being incredibly difficult emotionally and mentally for me, I had given up on the idea that it would never happen to me. Most of my friends have all happily walked down the aisle at some point within the last ten years but not me, not even close.
Now that everyone knew and I had a shiny, sparkly ring I could not wait to start wedding planning!
